Another year... and many, many changes!

It's been almost a year since my last post.  Here are the highlights:

  1.  6 months ago, my household moved from coastal Southern California to Southern Arizona
  2.  I now have a much larger garage.  And a larger house.  And a pool.
  3.  I also have more vehicles.
  4.  I can see the Milky Way from my back yard.
  5.  I'm still technically retired, but still quite active professionally
  6.  I've lost some of my church and recovery connections from SoCal, but I'm establishing new ones in SoAz
  7.  I'm not involved in a local car club, but I'm training to be a docent at Kitt Peak National Observatory.  It's a very cool job for a star-head like me!
  8. The summers here are hot.  Really hot.
  9. We got a new puppy last week.
Moving, especially to a new town, is much more stressful than I remember.  We love our beautiful pueblo style house, but it has experienced at least a decade of neglect... and we are having to cope with the cost and trouble of significant repairs.

Uncle Packard has moved from his ancestral family home in SoCal to the Southeastern Seaboard.  He doesn't have room for his three Packards, so he sold two.  The third one is temporarily entrusted to my care... the 1929 model 645 Roadster.

This car has an even richer history in my family than my T-bird!  My Dad bought this car as a jalopy before he married my Mom, and drove it to college.  After he broke it, he sold it to his brother (Uncle Packard), who gradually restored it into a national show winner.  It has been to Pebble Beach twice, and won it's class the first time.  I'm proud to be able to curate this car for my Uncle.

Sadly, Aunt Packard's health has been steadily declining, and she has just entered hospice care.  This is a very sad and challenging milestones for my Uncle and Cousins.  It also brings back some uncomfortable feelings.  I pray that I can be supportive, even from 2500 miles away.

Enough for now.  I'm very glad that I was able to re-activate this blogger account!  I'll post more in the next few months.
